The Legends of Mars
show concept
The Legends of Mars is a five-episode audiovisual show for planetariums, inspired by representations of Mars in world art and culture and brought to life through a variety of artistic and technical media.

As venues for theatrical performances, planetariums offer a unique setting for experimenting with the fusion of scenography and technology; they feature a dome for projecting high-quality content alongside a stage for scientists, performers, and musicians.

Episode 1: "The Mars"
Mars has long attracted people's attention with its red color. It was from this color that the planet received the name Mars—the name the ancient Romans gave to the ancient Greek god Ares.

Episode 2: "Martian Chronicles"
Long time ago, an advanced civilization existed on Mars... More than two thousand years later, legends of Mars resurfaced in the science fiction of the early 20th century. In Ray Bradbury’s "The Martian Chronicles", the Martian civilization is portrayed as one that had achieved harmony and lived in accord with nature. The author explores the impact and consequences of human colonization of Mars.

Episode 3: "Myphs and facts"
The era of space exploration has arrived. We know a great deal about Mars now; data and images from Mars rovers are shared online, stirring the imagination. These animated videos draw inspiration from the work of Soviet filmmaker Pavel Klushantsev and mid-20th-century Walt Disney animation.

Chapter 3: Miths and facts
Episode 5: "The House on Mars"
The distant future. A lush, green oasis bathed in divine light. We see a beautiful home and people living in a state of grace. But who are they? Earthlings, Martians, robots, or perhaps holograms? We do not know what the future holds. Yet there is only one path that can lead humanity to harmony: love. For any living being, standing still—ceasing to move—means death. And if human nature is defined by an upward ascent, then only love, faith, and art can aid in that journey. — Dante Alighieri, "The Divine Comedy"
